From Viral Trailer to Streaming Phenomenon
Before Raising Dion became a streaming hit, it started as a visionary short film and proof-of-concept trailer. Dennis Liu, a longtime friend of our team, approached GRAFX Co. to bring the story’s supernatural elements to life with compelling, cinematic-grade visual effects. The goal? To build a believable and emotionally resonant world that could support a full-length series.
After the completed trailer was released, it quickly went viral, amassing millions of views and widespread acclaim. Audiences praised its originality, emotional depth, and much-needed diversity in casting and storytelling.
The success of the trailer, bolstered by GRAFX Co.’s visual effects work, helped secure a series deal with Netflix. Raising Dion premiered in 2019 to strong ratings and fan enthusiasm, and a second season followed, further cementing the show’s place in the modern superhero canon.
We are proud to have played a pivotal role in launching a culturally significant sci-fi show. Our contribution helped demonstrate how powerful VFX can elevate original ideas, influence public perception, and drive commercial success, especially for stories that challenge traditional industry norms.
